It all started when...

In 2010, I left a career in accounting and embarked on a decidedly risky and out-of-character trip to South America for a year to teach English. I wanted to see the world and its people in a new way...in a way that my life was not currently providing. Over the next year, I made my way through several South and Central American countries, immersing myself into cultures that were so different than my own and discovering a passion for working with all kinds of new people. This experience sparked a desire in me that I'd never felt before and I learned that it was never too late to get a fresh start on life.

Upon returning back to the United States, I immediately found myself enrolling in a Master of Social Work program through the University of Southern California. I was fascinated by the way that culture and biology intertwined to create many of the mental health challenges we face today. During my last year of graduate school, I spent my internship in a non-profit setting in Seattle, helping adults with severe and persistent mental illness build skills to achieve a higher quality of life. Upon graduation, I began work at a community mental health agency, working with dozens of clients dealing with every symptom and diagnosis imaginable.  That same passion I found years ago while traveling is still alive in the work I do today. I genuinely enjoy learning about people and what makes them tick....and what could potentially make their lives better.

I hope that if you are reading this in a time of need, I might get the chance to hear about some of the difficulties you are facing. The idea of therapy can be intimidating and so it is important to me that the space I provide for each client feels safe, welcoming, culturally sensitive, and nonjudgmental. I'd love to meet you, learn your story, and help you heal and grow in any way that I can.
